Alternative Ways of Resolution for Commercial and Business Disputes

The VAP LAW Offices with the head lawyer, Vicky Athanassoglou, put in a dynamic presence at the Multiconvention CAPITAL & VISION 2016, which constitutes a tradition for the happenings of the Greek entrepreneur world and not only. The Multiconvention under the title of “DEVELOPMENT & INVESTMENTS / CREATING POTENTIALS FOR THE GREEK ECONOMY”, was carried out with complete success on the 21^st and 22^nd of October 2016 under the auspices of the Greek-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Vicky Athanassoglou was one of the major introducers of the convention with the title “Alternative Ways of Resolution for Commercial and Business Disputes – Arbitration and Mediation at a National and International Level – Grounds, Manner of Choice and Advantages”. Her introduction was focused on the benefits that alternative ways of resolving disputes, mainly Arbitration and Mediation, may offer in countries like Greece which is distinct for its slow rate of administering justice and also for the overburden of courts.

The clarification of legal terms and the clear reference to points of procedure which require particular attention followed the presentation of a comparing research with reference to countries that adopted the models of alternative ways for dispute resolving, such as Great Britain, U.S.A., Germany, France and Italy proving the multiple financial and social benefits. Finally, the new out of court compromise mechanism for the settlement of private and business debts was analyzed together with potentials that are created from its adoption.
